Job Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for organizing and overseeing ongoing projects geared toward specific agriculture, community improvement, and socioeconomic goals. This includes coordinating agriculture workdays, assisting in community meetings, and engaging with other Native Hawaiian non-profits or cultural practitioners. The position is a 6 month, 1099 contract with the potential for an extension.

Who We Are

Ho’i Ho’i Ea is a Native Hawaiian 501c3 non-profit based out of Honolulu, Hawaii. Our mission statement supports promoting, preserving, and encouraging interest in and a deeper understanding of the social, cultural, and spiritual aspects of Hawaii. We also aim to increase the self-esteem and cultural identity of Hawaii’s youth and community through instruction in Hawaiian History, Culture and Values.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organization's focal point for community engagement.

  • Manage activities that require cultural sensitivity, coordinating events in rural outdoor areas, engagement with families and elderly.

  • Serve as a key leader in meetings, and strategic communications to develop and execute projects that align with our Community Based Organization.

  • Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of strategic long-term community plans, budgeting, and resource management.

Periodic travel to attend coordinate, attend meetings, perform project management implementation of physical activities.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • Must be able to handle basic landscaping tools, put together tents, have experience with agriculture and Community Based Organizations, and regularly lift 50 lbs.

  • Attention to detail, with an ability to manage multiple projects at a time

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills for interacting with individuals at all levels, including the Board of Directors

  • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while meeting specific project deliverables at designated times, within budget

  • All applicants must have a valid driver's license, and access to a consistent, reliable vehicle as this position may require moving equipment/supplies to and from various locations

  • Ability to work flexible hours including afternoons and weekends, if needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, PMP

  • High familiarity with Native Hawaiian practices with culture, agriculture, and the arts

  • Familiar with cultural and political climate in Hawaii

Work Locations

Ho’i Ho’i Ea is seeking a candidate located on Oahu for a hybrid position. The right candidate will have a remote, work from home schedule, with occasional travel to and from locations for in-person activities.  

*Salary is commensurate with experience.
